Caving, aka spelunking, is the sport of exploring caves. Some caves are quite open such as lava tubes, whereas other caving experiences are not for the clastrophobic. Climbing and crawling is often necessary to squeeze through tights spots in smaller caves. Caving equipment includes: ropes, lights, helmets, and overalls. Generally caving is done for exercise or recreation, but can be done for commercial purposes as well. Remember that caving can be a dangerous sport and you should go with someone who has experience in caves. Don't become a spelunker, "Cavers rescue spelunkers."
