From Hwy 78 turn South on Split Mountain Rd (33.144135, -116.132917). Split Mountain Rd will curve to the left and then back to the right. The turn off to the parking area is about 6 miles down the road after you turn on Split Mtn Rd. It's on the right hand side.

This hike goes through a desert wash area. The elephant trees are very different and awe inspiring when blooming. It can be very windy on the trail.

You might see some animals if you go during early morning of late evening. There are lots of animal tracks in the sand.
