From Toronto, ON: take HWY 400 north to Barrie; take Exit 117 East; turn east on Horseshoe Valley Rd.; go five minutes to the resort on the south side of Horseshoe Valley Rd.

Horseshoe is a really pretty resort set in a small valley just north of Lake Simcoe. As with other ski resorts in Ontario, there are no large mountains, but the hills are steep and make for good runs.

Horseshoe has 23 runs and 8 chairlifts according to their website. They also have the longest ski season in southern Ontario and are just under an hour's drive from Toronto.

Thirty-five kilometers (ca. 22 miles) of trails provide cross-country skiers the chance to see beautiful Ontario countryside. Snowshoeing is also permissible on the trails and snowshoes can be rented through the resort. Cross-country skiing in northern Ontario is a wonderful experience and a good workout too with its rolling hills and landscapes.
