From San Diego take I-15 N to Hwy 79 (Temecula). Go east past Aguanga until you reach Oak Grove. Park at ranger station and proceed NW .5 miles to trailhead. First 2 miles are Oak Grove Trail, then turns into High Point Trail for remaining 5 miles. Round trip is 14 miles so bring plenty of water as there are no water sources along trail.

This is one of Palomar Mountain's "secret" trails. Well maintained single track that is not widely used. Best times of year to go is in spring or fall. Summer hiking here can be punishing to say the least. Excellent views from the fire lookout tower on top of High Point, Mt. Jacinto, Mt. San Gorgonio and Mt. Baldy to the north and the Coronado Islands and inland Mexico to the south.
This is not a beginner's hike and you should already be in decent shape before you attempt it. Elevation gain is approx 3900'.

Excellent single track and double track for mountain biking. Can branch off onto Cottonwood truck trail for a 22 mile ride.
