From I-91 N or S take exit 40 towards Bradley. Keep driving until the route 20 exit, or Rainbow road. Continue down until you reach Newgate Rd. Parking is available on the corner.

Following the blue dot trail, the terrain starts out easy, but generally progresses into an intermediate ride. The terrain is rocky, and occasionally you may come across some downed logs. Plan to walk your bike at some points, as the terrain becomes impassable. You can stop at three different scenic overlooks, but I recommend stopping once the trail enters a (posted) hunting area. The terrain becomes very difficult at points so unless you are ready for a challenge, it may become pretty rough.

A bit steep in the beginning, this trail, part of the Metacomet Trail, evens out to a gradual grade. Allot a couple hours for the hike, which contains three scenic overlooks. For an easy hike, most people stop at the first one, but if you continue out to the second you will be treated with a view of the Old Newgate Prison.
