Little Caney Peninsula on east shore is 100's of acres of farmland returning to nature. It is owned by Sabine River Authority, but totally unimproved, devoid of human beings, and not officially or unofficially open for exploration. But not patrolled either. Deer, otters, coyotes, and bobcats rule the place. Dangerous feral hogs, poisonous snakes and poison ivy are also present. Hike at your own risk!

Scenic lake canoeing. Trophy bass fishing. Public lands along shoreline, but land adjacent to homes is leased to homeowners, so stay out of yards.
