You can get close to the cave in a vehichle but depending on the time of year you may have to hike a fair distance. The cave is not far from the Bear Trap Airport or I should say landing strip.

There are no points within 15 miles of this point.

Bear Trap Cave does not go very far before it is blocked off with a cave in, it is part of a long lava tube system. The opening is easy to descend down into the cool cave, and was used for shelter by early man.

At one time the Bear Trap cave was said to have gone as far in as 15 miles. High clearance vehicles are recommended for getting there.
