There is a picnic shelter for group activities in the day-use area.

For backcountry camping with some conveniences, there are two remote campgrounds along the Lakeside Trail. These can be reached by foot, bicycle, ATV, horseback or snowmachine.

A large group picnic and camping area or back country sites may be reserved by calling the Chugach State Park Headquarters at 345-5014.

"Twin Peaks Trail" 2.6 miles one way moderate to difficult, "Bold Ridge Trail" 3.5 miles moderate to difficult, are two of the trails for hiking only in the Eklutna park, tho you can use an ATV to get to the trailheads from the main trail.

Bold Ridge Trail provides excellent views of the Eklutna Valley and Glacier, and the Knik Arm of Cook Inlet. The maintained trail ends at the base of the snowcapped Bold Peak.

The lake is an excellent place to canoe, kayak, fish, wind surf, sail and motorboat. However, the weather can change rapidly in this valley, bringing sudden high winds, especially in the afternoon.

All boats must be hand carried to the lake, there are no ramps, from the parking lot.

One of the most beautiful times to go is in early morning, when it's misty and quiet.

This area is open for ATVs Sunday through Wednesday only, but you can see waterfalls, wild life, and take a short hike to see the glacier that feeds the lake.
