From I-270 take the West Broad Street (U.S. 40) exit west. Go about five miles on Broad Street to Darby Creek Drive. Turn left onto Darby Creek Drive and proceed three miles. The main park entrance is on the right. The entrance to the Indian Ridge Picnic Area is one mile south of the main entrance, just south of Alkire Road, on the right. To get to the Pleasant Valley Quarry area, take exit 94 on I-71 and go 1.75 miles on Sr 62 / SR 3 southwest towards Harrisburg. Entrance is on the left.

Darby Creek offers 10 trails ranging from a quarter mile to 4.7 miles in length. The levels of difficulty range from easy to difficult. Most of the surfaces are grass, dirt, or gravel and some of the trails permit pets. The Hawthorn trail offers a lookout deck. Many of the trails offer trees and wooded areas and woodlands.

Cross-country skiing is permitted on the Dyer Mills trail which is a 3.2 moderate to difficult trail. It will take you near the Little Darby Creek. You can get onto this trail from the entrance off Gardner Road.
