Day hiking only. No camping. The trail starts off wide and paved. It is level and handicap accessible for the first mile. Then the trail turns to gravel with short climbs but remains mostly wide with a few exceptions for the next two miles. Dogs and bicycles are allowed and appropriate up to this point. At the three mile point the trail becomes steep and narrow. Dogs and bicycles are not allowed on this part of the trail. The trail continues another three miles ending with a short loop in an old growth redwood grove far beyond the crowds of other famous redwood groves in the area. From its handicap accessible beginning with interpretive signs to the its remote wilderness experience at the end the Headwaters Forest has something for everybody.

There are no points within 15 miles of this point.
