Park in the parking lot just off of Park Loop Road near the trail head north of the Schooner Head entrance.

This is a steady strenuous climb with steep grades. The vertical increase is about 1000 ft and the trail is exposed.

Call before planning to hike this trail in the summer. It is sometimes closed due to endagered Peregrine Falcons in the area.
