Take exit 47-E on I-91 and continue along route 190 until you reach Maple St. in Somersville. Take a right and the parking lot will be straight ahead at the end.

With an accessible boat launch, getting started is easy. The pond is large enough that you soon leave civilization behind. The scenic red brick mills give way to horse farms and large yards. You can continue up the Scantic river for another couple of miles, where the water is calm and slow flowing. Most of the debris is removed by the Scantic Watershed Society, so the path is unobstructed.
