island lake Washington

You can camp anywhere right around the lake. there are many great areas right next to the stream that feeds the lake as well as one that drains from it. It is a very scenic area with lots of trees and other flora. I would recommend this to anyone who loves to camp off the beaten path.

Island Lake is probably about 1/2 a mile in diameter. It is clear and cool because water flows in and out. There are big rock formations on the South side of the lake that can be used as a diving platform or for just sitting out in the sun. The banks are nice and gradual.

From the trailhead it's just over 5 miles to Island Lake. It is classified as a moderate hike. You gain over 2,500 feet in elevation but the views make it worth it. I hiked it when I was 14 and it wasn't too bad. There are opportunities to see many kinds of wildlife.
