From Salmon, ID go north on Highway 93, approximately 21 miles, until you reach the town of Northfork. At the town of Northfork turn left on NFD 030 Road. Continue following the 030 past the town of shoup until you get to a bridge that crosses the river. On the South side of the river going back east from the bridge you will find a game trail along the river. Travel down this game trail a couple hundred yards and you will find a cave.
This canyon is filled with tons of things to do from whitewater rafting to horseback riding. There are many designated campsites along the river where a person can stay. There is an abundance of wildlife in this canyon like bald eagles, bighorn sheep, Elk, and deer. Enjoy this is one of my favorite places to go.

There are calm parts of the river that are good for canoeing. However be careful there is also some serious whitewater in this canyon.

The cave that I am talking about is located where the bridge crosses the river after you pass Shoup. On the south side of river head back east away from the bridge you will find a game trail that goes along the south side of the river. A couple hundered yards down this trail is a small cave enterance.
