Big Baldy Fire Lookout Idaho

There is no water on the Baldy Ridge trail so plenty of water should be taken. Make sure your bottles are full befor you get to the ridge. I strongly suggest having a detailed topo map and GPS.

This trail can be turned into a loop with the Indian Creek Trail (trail 225) with a total distance of about 52 miles. A detailed description of this hike can be found in Hiking Idaho by Ralph Maughan.

From the trail head take Buck Creek 5 miles until you reach a junction with Indian Creek trail and Baldy Ridge Trail. From here it is a long, hard 7 miles before the next water source, Buck Lake. From buck lake continue on the Baldy Ridge trail until you reach close to the summit. You will reach a junction with another trail that leads to the summit. At the summit there is a beutifull view and an abandoned fire lookout. I took a look inside and there is a log book where visitors record their date and observations. This hike is well worth the view. One of the best I've seen.
