Torrey Pines State Reserve is located between La Jolla and Del Mar, California, north of San Diego. From Hwy 5, exit on Carmel Valley Road and drive west for about 1.5 miles till you reach the Coast Highway 101. Turn left and proceed along the beach for about a mile. The park entrance is on your right just before the highway begins to climb the Torrey Pines grade.

The beach trail is a 3/4 mile long trail to the a popular beach access point. This trail has the least amount of scenery of all trails at Torrey Pines. The trailhead is at the restroom.

When you hike this trail remember to check the tides as the water may cover a large section of the sand. Also, hiking this trail in the winter can be very difficult because the waves wash away the sand and you end up hiking over rock the entire 3/4 miles.
