From Rexburg, travel west on State Hwy 33 to Mud Lake; then north on State Hwy 28 until about 17 miles south of Leadore. On the right-hand side of the road (east side) there is a Salmon-Challis National Forest sign with the name Meadow Lake in small white lettering on the bottom of the sign. Turn left (west) onto the gravel road and follow it to the top. Take care on this road as it is very steep and narrow.

The campground is located right next to the lake and requires a small fee. An outhouse is on site as well as potable water. "Reservations" are on a first-come, first-served basis. The elevation is 9,160 ft.; therefore, be prepared for cold temperatures at night.

A small trail heads west into the forest, which is filled with beautiful (and sometimes strange) trees. This is a very family-friendly hike as it simply loops around to the entrance of the campground. It goes a distance of approx. 1-2 miles.

Meadow Lake is a glacial lake; therefore, it is really, really cold. However, the water is clear and calm. The US Forest Service stocks the lake twice each summer with Rainbow Trout. Very scenic and secluded.
