On highway 12 go to where the Lochsa River meets the Selway River to make the Clearwater River. Turn up the Selway (south east direction) and continue until you get to Selway Falls- you can't miss it.
The road is not paved all the way to Selway Falls.

The Lower Selway is a seven mile class III run when the river is running 1,000-20,000 cfs.
The put-in is just below Selway Falls. If you're in the area and want an easy float it's a good one to consider. It's a good beginner run with a few easy rapids. The routes are plentiful and wide. Below each rapid the river pools, allowing plenty of recovery room. There are two class III rapids: Fall Creek about two miles down from the put-in and Rock Island, about a mile from the take-out. This is a gentle run, but during high water (15,000+ cfs) it does pack some punch. Everything can be scouted from the road. Take-out at Boyd Creek Campground.
